About Me

I’m Leah, an LCSW-R based in NYS, specializing in trauma-informed care and insight oriented psychotherapy. My journey towards becoming a psychotherapist began with a deep interest in how people make sense of loss and trauma, particularly how past experiences and relationships influence current behaviors and emotions. After obtaining my Master’s in Social Work from New York University, I later pursued advanced, post-master’s training in psychodynamic psychotherapy. Inspired by my work with individuals who have experienced significant disruptions in their lives, I pursued a career that allows me to support others in their healing process.

My professional background has prepared me to work with people with diverse life experiences. Having worked in psychosocial oncology and in human rights settings with individuals who have survived forced migration, torture and other human rights violations, I am particularly qualified to help people navigate concepts of grief that expand beyond traditional understanding, to include ambiguous loss and disenfranchised grief.

With over a decade of experience, I have developed a deep understanding of complex trauma, political asylum, cross-cultural issues, immigration-related concerns, adjustment to medical illnesses and beyond.
